New Package Deals to include Mixing & Mastering!

AudioBeach Studios will soon be launching a load of package deals available to all bands at the usual great AudioBeach Studios prices!

Up until now, you've only really been able to turn up and record for your 7 hours and try and fit everything in in that time (record, mix and master). Well, no more!

Very soon, we'll be launching our new Package Deals (alongside our epic value recording sessions) which, as well as the usually 7 hours recording time, will include offline mixing, or mastering, or both!

A standard day to record at AudioBeach Studios is £160 which is well below the market rate (£300-400) for a studio with this standard of equipment and this level of expertise (this low rate is largely due to the fact that we received the Lottery grant to start up and now have no expensive equipment loans to repay). But we know that so many bands want more, and need more, time in the studio; trying to fit in recording and mixing in to 7 hours can be a bit of a struggle sometimes. And we're here and set up with the purpose of helping bands. So...

Essentially, as part of the package deals you will have the option of paying for some offline mixing time which will be charged per project, not per hour (massive savings). This basically means you can spend the whole 7 hours recording during each day, and we will then mix the tracks for you later and send you the CD (you will get a chance to review the mix online before we finalise everything). This will mean you get much more time to record, and we can spend our time getting you the best mix possible.

Prices for this will follow shortly, although we are having a trial weekend on November 27th & 28th which we will announce on our Facebook page very shortly!

Brand New LIVE MUSIC ROCK NIGHT

AudioBeach Studios is please to announce that it will be providing the live sound for a new Live Music Rock Night is Brighton starting on the 10th August.

The night is called CHAOS and is being held "Below Belushi's" in a clean room, with clean toilets and a cheap bar! AudioBeach Studios has been part of the consultation service during the setup of the sound system at Belushi's so we're confident that we will be acheiving the best sound in Brighton for a venue this size.

In addition to the live sound, we are offering bands the chance to get a live recording of their gig, fully mastered and ready for MySpace/Facebook, for just £10. We will be treating this slightly different to most live recordings you get where the engineer will just record whats coming out of the PA... They are always bad mixes as they are designed for live perforance, with the vocal most prominent and the drums sitting low in the mix. We will be providing an alternative mix while you're playing which will be recorded perfectly.

More information on the live recording will come in the next few days, along with a few spec and tech requirements and more information about how to play one of the nights!

The build is nearly finished! We had to put the floor in yesterday so the doors and skirting can go in today.

It took us 10 hours in total, starting (properly) at 6pm and finishing at 4am. It looks pretty sweet though!

There's no pictures from Day #4 because firstly, my iPhone had a fit and wasn't saving the pictures properly. And secondly, not a lot happened on Day #4 after the epic rain in Brighton revealed a large leak in the wall of the building. Luckily it happened now, and not after we'd finished. But, we've worked round it and fixed it so it's all good!

Today, we started the first stage of the building work! The old dividing walls have been ripped out and the unit is now totally open plan. We start actually putting stuff up on Tuesday.

So today we spent the day clearing out the two units which are soon to become AudioBeach Studios. What a day! The units look even BIGGER now they are emptier.

The units both used to be part of a t-shirt printing company, ESC Products. They have now moved their office and storage to a unit next door leaving us with these. We worked with them today to clear out the remains of the storage (old stock, pallets etc) and the old office area.

As you can see from the following pictures, it looks like absolute chaos. It was, pretty much, but at least it was organised chaos.

Calling ALL Local Builders! (Bands can win something too!)

We are currently taking quotes from builders who can start NOW and build in super-quick time! If you're a local building company and think you can help, PLEASE get in touch ASAP. We are taking a few quote on Friday and don't want you to miss out! Any builders that offer us a good deal as Lottery Funded organistion will get their logo on all our branded stationary and on the website for a minimum of ONE YEAR!

We've been waiting ages to get started on this project and now we can finally start the build. This is going to be fun; we've got rough plans (see earlier blog post) and we're so excited to finally see these come to life.

We are getting professionals in to start the build; stud walls, floor levelling, electric and plumbing etc, but will be looking for volunteers to help with the post-build stuff like painting, flooring, and acoustic treatment. Everyone who helps out will be mentioned in our first report and on the website. We'll also give you a good deal on recording if you then come back to us with your band!

Also, Forbes Coleman, one of the people behind AudioBeach Studios, has offered a pretty sweet competition for local bands:

"I am now on a mission to find the first band to record in my new studio, AudioBeach Studios, in October. I will record, mix and master two tracks FOR FREE for the right band. The right band will be talented, have a personality, be able to control their egos, have fresh ideas and, above all, be working really hard to get to where they want to be.

I’ll announce more info about my “Talent Search” later in October but start thinking now if you are the right band or if you know of the right band to benefit from a top-quality single/demo."

Today we sat down and budgeted what we need, what we have and how much we need to spend on the building work. For obvious reasons, I won't be posting the prices here.

As you can see, AudioBeach Studios is going to be a high-spec studio. Possible the best quality studio in Brighton & Hove, especially for the price!

Floor Plan Designs

This is the original floor plan design, estimating measurements for desk size, chill-out room and live areas.

Although quite pleasing to the eye, and also quite quirky with the two live areas, it wasn't practical to have a control room this size.

After measuring the size of the desk we are potentially using, the control room would need to be double the estimated size of the initial floor plan

The latest floor plan takes the size of the desk in to account and doubles the size the control room. Although sacrificing the Chill Out area, this can easily be accommodated at the back of the control room and in the live area.

This is most likely going to be the final plan we work to, although measurements are approximate and minor details may change once building work has started, for example the addition of a drum/vocal booth.
